  • You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Many people begin therapy because they feel anxious, emotionally overwhelmed, disconnected in relationships, stuck in repetitive patterns, or simply aware that something in their life no longer feels sustainable.

Therapy can offer space to better understand yourself, your emotions, your relationships, and the deeper patterns shaping your experiences. Even if you're not entirely sure what you need yet, therapy can help create clarity around what's feeling difficult and what you want moving forward.

  • Many people I work with have had previous therapy experiences. Some are returning to therapy during a new phase of life, while others are looking for a deeper or different kind of therapeutic work than they’ve experienced in the past.

Psychodynamic therapy focuses not only on symptom relief, but on understanding the deeper emotional and relational patterns contributing to what you're struggling with. Even if you've done therapy before, this work can often lead to new insight, understanding, and lasting change.

  • Our first session is an opportunity for us to begin getting to know each other and better understand what’s bringing you to therapy. We’ll talk about your current struggles, relevant background and relationships, and what you’re hoping for from the therapy process.

You don’t need to prepare anything beforehand or know exactly what to say. Many people come into therapy feeling overwhelmed, unsure where to start, or having difficulty fully putting their experiences into words. The first session is simply a place to begin.

Just as importantly, it’s an opportunity for you to get a sense of how it feels to work together. Building a trusting and supportive therapeutic relationship is an important part of meaningful therapy, and we’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

  • The length of therapy depends on your individual needs, goals, and what brings you in. Some people seek therapy for support around a specific challenge or life transition, while others are looking for deeper long-term work focused on understanding longstanding emotional or relationship patterns.

Psychodynamic therapy is often less focused on quick fixes and more focused on creating meaningful and lasting change. Together, we’ll regularly check in about how the work is feeling and what’s most supportive for you as therapy unfolds.
